December: Sarah's Cake

After a whole year, I'm wrapping up my cake of the year project with this family tradition, we call it Sarah's Cake. The name is a long story, from a family vacation and a lady named Sarah who made us this cake. It's a normal cake mixture - flour, sugar, baking powder, etc - until you add the candy-like substance of dates that have been soaked in water. It's to die for! It's only one layer, because the cake is so flavorful, and the cream sauce is heavenly. Plus, it's quite a lovely sight to serve!

That wraps up my Year of the Cake project, I can't believe it's been a whole year and 12 cakes. I'm looking forward to 2012, The Year of the Pie!
