I hadn't heard of the Kimpton hotel chain before a friend of ours suggested it for our trip to San Francisco. (And he happens to know a lot about hotels.) We were on the hunt for a neat place with some charm so we took a look at the options - there are nine! Not knowing much about them, we went ahead and made our reservations. We were so pleased with our stay!
Right after we booked all our arrangements, Kimpton came out with their new bike program with Public bikes. I was so excited, I knew we'd have to take advantage of it, despite the hills. The program is really easy. Every Kimpton hotel got a couple of bikes for guests to take out to explore the city! You can do it in NYC or SF, easy-peasy.
This is where it gets fun! We got together with my new photographer friend, Kirsten, one afternoon to ride bikes and snap some photos. It was so fun, y'all. I love when the internet brings people together, and this was such a fun treat. Kirsten is a fabulous photographer, by the way! (If you're in San Francisco, you should definitely look her up.)
So when you get to the hotel, all you have to do is ask! You reserve the bikes for free at the front desk in the morning. And you get to scoot around town on a stylish Public bike, with a cute bell and a basket! Side note: I hadn't ridden a bike in a while, so I might even recommend a helmet for those of us who might be a little rusty. What's that saying about learning to ride a bike? I'm not saying I forgot, I'm just saying I was a little wobbly!
The streets of San Francisco are full of pretty alleyways with street art and container gardens, so we found a cute one near the hotel to ride around and practice balancing! I seriously almost toppled over a few times. Isn't that embarrassing? I told you, it had been a while since my last bike excursion.
So if you're looking for a hotel for an upcoming trip or vacation, I definitely recommend looking at a Kimpton. The new bike program with Public bikes is a huge plus, and makes for a fun afternoon with your sweetie!
